About us
Sunlight Development Trust is a community owned and managed charitable organisation that works with partners across all sectors. We combine a mix of services aimed at everyone within our community; nobody is excluded. Our overriding aim is to improve health inequity and well-being by providing an improved range of social, medical and community activities.
We're not easy to categorise; our direction is led by the communities with whom we work and as such we get involved in a massive range of activities and services. All of our services are guided by the National Occupational Standards of community development and we aspire to build thriving social enterprises that provide training and employment opportunities as well as profit which underpins the core costs of running our organisation.
All other profit is re-invested into community services such as youth activities or mental health services, which are not about making money but rather providing useful community services and creating improved well being.
Sunlight Centre
Sunlight Centre is our community and enterprise hub; it contains an extensive range of quality facilities, equipment and flexible meeting spaces. It has award winning design and is recognised as one of the country's leading examples of integrated health and community service anywhere in the UK.
Awards
We are not perfect but we do aspire to be and our hard work has been rewarded:
Special Recognition: 2005 ODPM Awards for Sustainable Communities
Award Winner: 2004 BURA Trust Awards for Community Regeneration.
