Projects and groups

At Sunlight we regularly see around 100 community groups using our spaces.

Bangladeshi sewing groups, Chinese elderly groups and young footballers share space with community run parent and toddler groups, cardiac rehab groups and a local food project.

We run a community café on site, there's Radio Sunlight and the industry-standard Sunlight recording studio.

These projects only work because so many local people have been involved, to the point where more than half of the available services are run directly by community groups and individuals themselves, completely independently of the trust.

All of the projects are open, accessible and well run - we encourage you to get involved. Contact details will appear for all these groups over the next few weeks. In the meantime, pop in or give us a call for more information.

Sunlight still looks after a number of key projects though and for more information about any of these click a link on the left.

Key projects

This year, Sunlight is moving to independence. Becoming a charity in our own right is a big job and we plan to look after a number of bigger projects which will support us financially so we can in turn support a wide base of community groups.

Key projects managed by Sunlight for 2006 are:

* Living Room community café
* Sunlight Studios
* Radio Sunlight
* Sunlight Gardens
* White Road Futures
* Sunlight training and consultancy programme

More information about these projects and the principles behind them can be found in the social enterprise section.

Not what you wanted?

If you can't find a group or project that does what you want, our team of community networkers have a great track record of getting things started. If you think you have what it takes to see an idea through, come and get in touch.

We've recently supported tribal belly dancing groups, mental health support groups, a young dad's group and community garden project.

Sunlight is always open to new ideas and always ready for a challenge - we're just waiting for your ideas.
