Social Enterprise

Social enterprise is a type of business that re-invests profit into community good causes, rather than dividing the profit between share holders or owners. They also create training and employment opportunities.

The Sunlight trust has developed 5 main social enterprises:

Cafe Sunlight
Catering and Community cafes

Sunlight Studios
Digital recording

Parentis
Parent training courses

Sunlight Media Hub
Video and new media, marketing and design for print or web

Sunlight People
Training, workshops, tours and consultancy

These services trade under a specially formed community interest company called Sunlight Community Enterprises CIC

Background

Since starting in 2003, 1,653 Community members have participated in training and we have created over 30 new employment places! The enterprises are now controlled by Sunlight Enterprises CIC - an organization model that helps not-for-profit charities to trade and earn money whilst providing training, employment and other benefits to the community.

We are also developing 2 new enterprises

Parentis - a parenting support and training program that can delivered anywhere - franchise opportunities soon!

Sunlight Gardening and maintenance - landscaping, garden creation and ongoing upkeep.
