16 Days of Action against Domestic Abuse campaign

Domestic Abuse can be experienced by anyone, regardless of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, culture or religion. Sunlight is supporting Kent Integrated Domestic Abuse Service and Medway Domestic Abuse Services’ 16 Days of Action campaign with a social media campaign and supporting literature. The campaign starts on 25 December.

Craft Workshops

In the run up to our Christmas Craft Fayre on December 4, Sunlight Centre is running free weekly craft workshops for the community. Crafts are designed to be simple but impactful, giving beneficiaries something special to take home and building their creative confidence. Items include Christmas cards, tree baubles and glitter glass.

Co-op Local Community Fund

Sunlight Development Trust is delighted to announce that its High Hopes Community Garden will be a beneficiary of the Co-op Local Community Fund for the next 12 months The generosity of Co-op members will allow the Trust to replace the unsafe wooden steps up to the garden with a metal staircase, and build a weatherproof log cabin for extra support groups and wellness events.

Half term support for families

Last week Café Sunlight held a series of Hallowe’en themed creative activities for local children, including colouring, crafts, cookie decorating and pumpkin carving. All activities were free, and every child received a certificate celebrating their work. The daily events provided families an opportunity to get out of the home and do something fun at no cost to them, which was very welcome.

Café Sunlight reopens tomorrow at 11am! We are SO looking forward to welcoming everyone again, it’s been way too long. Our volunteers and community members are preparing for the reopening at warp speed, and tomorrow, the café will once again be a cheerful and friendly space serving hot and cold drinks, snacks and light bites!
