Senior Facilitator, Mental Health Service (Wellbeing Café)

Sunlight Development Trust tackles social exclusion and health inequalities in Medway. We seek to improve the wellbeing, life chances and mental health of our community with free support groups and activities for people of all ages, heritages and abilities. We’re based at Sunlight Centre in Gillingham, where health services and Sunlight community activities sit side by side.

The Wellbeing Café scheme aims to reduce contact with and attendances at local A&E, General Practice and Acute Mental Health services. It is targeted at adults in Medway who have a history of mental health service use. It operates on a referral basis and is intentionally community based and inclusive to de-stigmatise mental health issues and support the development of supportive personal networks and build social capital.

The current hours of operation are Monday to Friday 5.30pm-8.30pm and weekends 1530-1830. These times are considered to have maximum benefit in terms of accessibility and to prevent escalation to other statutory services.

We are looking for a capable person with hands on experience of similar mental health services and a track record of managing and inspiring teams to supervise the Wellbeing Cafe Facilitators on a part time basis. The position will initially be on a fixed term contract until 31 March next year, with the possibility of an extension until 31 March 2025

The Job Description and Person Specification are below, as well as an application form and our Equalities and Diversity Monitoring From. If you are interested in this position, please download and complete the application form and email it to info@sunlighttrust.org.uk. The Equalities Form isn’t mandatory, so if you’d prefer not to volunteer this information that’s fine.
