Cancer Peer Support
Talking with people who’ve lived through cancer can really help alleviate your fears about the disease. Survivors can share their personal experiences, providing insights into the realities of living with and overcoming cancer. Conversations can demystify the treatment process, highlight advancements in medical care, and offer hope through real-life success stories. Hearing it ‘from the horse’s mouth’ can help you understand that a cancer diagnosis is not necessarily a death sentence and that many many people go on to lead fulfilling lives post-treatment. Exchanging information and emotional support can create a sense of community and resilience, reducing the stigma and fear often associated with cancer.
At the Sunlight Centre we’re working with a number of local organisations to offer a cancer advice service for the people of Medway and Swale. All our advisors have been through cancer and know the ins and outs of treatments and recovery. Advice is available in person at the Sunlight Centre between 10am and 12pm every Wednesday.
Remember: cancer is no fun, obviously, but at the same time it need not be feared. If you need some support, pop along to Sunlight for a chat
