Free Course in Furniture Restoration
Sunlight Development Trust has teamed up with Gillingham Street Angels to bring an opportunity for 6 local people not currently in work to learn new skills and improve their employment prospects. The 12 week course in furniture restoration covers the ‘4Rs’ of furniture maintenance – Repair, Restore, Repurpose and Recycle – and will include practical training in working with wood, metal and upholstery. I have been painting since I was five years old and have worked in the advertising industry for 13 years. Recently, I’ve realized that I truly enjoy furniture painting, restoration, and upcycling, and I’m considering pursuing it professionally.
Could you please let me know if you offer any free online courses or learning resources for beginners? I would really appreciate any guidance or recommendations.

Hi Duygu, thanks for your message. We used to have a furniture restoration course, but sadly no longer. I’d recommend you reach out to Thrift and Thrive in Chatham, I think they rent space to a furniture restoration group as part of their Revive project.
